Algebraic problems in signal processing

Projekt leírás

Algebraic techniques (including invariant theory, algebraic geometry, and commutative algebra) can be naturally applied to certain problems in signal processing (for example, for the phase retrieval problem of X-ray crystallography) or machine learning. The aim of the project is to understand the nature of the mathematical questions arising this way, and to try to contribute to the study of some of them.

Előfeltételek

Ability to read scientific papers in English, knowledge of basic concepts of algebra (as taught in BSc level algebra courses). Familiarity with group representations and elementary algebraic geometry is advantageous, but can also be learnt via the project.
